Tsu Fifty-Five

This sculpture consists of five cast bronze elements: four anvils and a cluster of bamboo shafts cleaved down to about six inches. The anvils are at 90 degree angles as a cruciform to reference mandala and the four directions. The anvil surfaces are inscribed with lines from the Tao Te Ching. The bamboo cluster with roots is supported at the confluence of the anvil tips. The inscribed poetics references the value of yielding.
